From their web site:
Many Eyes is a bet on the power of human visual intelligence to find patterns. Our goal is to “democratize” visualization and to enable a new social kind of data analysis.
We all deal with data that we’d like to understand better. It may be as straightforward as a sales spreadsheet or fantasy football stats chart, or as vague as a cluttered email inbox. But a remarkable amount of it has social meaning beyond ourselves. When we share it and discuss it, we understand it in new ways.
Many Eyes lets you create many types of visualizations, from graphs and charts to data maps, tag clouds and many more. It then allows you and others to comment on the visualization as a whole or on specific parts. There is great potential for classroom use here. Visualizations and data sets with a common theme can also be organized into “topic hubs.”
Here is an example of a bubble chart on foodborne illness by type of food:
Free registration allows you to upload your own data, rate data sets and visualizations, and much more. Without registering at the site, you can view and discuss visualizations and data sets, and create visualizations with existing data sets.
