Winner of the Parents’ Choice Gold Award for Recording Excellence.

Back Story

Finding the right cellist to play with me on this recording of lullabies took attending a lot of cello concerts over a couple of years. Finally, on my way to a rehearsal with the Singing Rainbow kids, I heard the perfect cello voice literally “emanating from above” in the Sanctuary of the Noe Valley Ministry. I asked my friend Karen Heather who it was and she said, “Oh, it’s Emil; Isn’t he divine?” I replied, “Yes, and I need his phone number.”

Emil and I immediately got to work on the songs I had chosen for the project and by the time we finished the CD, we were close friends and have remained so for 25+ years. My brother Benjamin brought his warm baritone singing voice to the proceedings and we won a third Parents’ Choice Gold Award for this CD.

To this day, I still meet people who happily fell asleep to this music as both babies and grown-ups. One of our friends heard this music before he was born and started playing the cello at the age of 4. He’s now an accomplished performing musician as well as a doctor! This collection is still being given to expectant parents and we talk of perhaps making a sequel one of these days.
